Welcome to the Lac La Biche Birding Society Website
Welcome to the new website of the Lac La Biche Birding Society, hosted by our friends at the Federation of Alberta Naturalists.
In 1992 an unofficial birding club formed in Lac La Biche around this region's first participation in the annual Christmas Bird Count. As interest in birding waxed the birding club gradually increased its local presence. Then, in the spring of 1998 the Lac La Biche Birding Society became an incorporated society in order to better coordinate the Christmas Bird and May Species Counts in the Lac La Biche region. Within another short span of years, our society began working to provide public education on the ecological value of wild bird populations and conservation methods that would best protect this wealth of avian diversity.
At present, the Lac La Biche Birding Society is a corporate member of the Federation of Alberta Naturalists.
The Lac La Biche Birding Society holds a meeting at least once every month on the second Wednesday of the month at 7:00 pm (call 780-623-7247 for meeting location). In the summer months this usually takes the form of field trips to locations of interest for local birders.
For information on special birding events that are either hosted or sponsored by the Lac La Biche Birding Society, please check into the EVENTS SECTION of our site (access is located on the navigation bar to the left of this text).
Everyone is welcome to attend all of our meetings and events. We also encourage you to bring your family and friends to participate in our society's events.
